Learning objectives
The course is part of Anesthesiology Veterinary Teaching or Integrated course of Clinical Surgery, Operative Surgical Semiotics and Medicine
The course aims to enable the student to know and to understand the essential elements in the classification of patients, with the purpose of allowing the student to use the knowledge and understanding gained in identifying the patient's problems related to the condition of the animal suffering from disease and to prepare a plan of anesthesia care adequately.

Knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology and Pathology and Surgical
Course unit content
The first lessons cover topics of a general nature such as' surgical approach to the patient, classification of anesthetic risk, descriptions of the phases of anesthesia and drugs and equipment used.
The second part of the course is directed to the treatment of anesthetic procedures in the various animal species as regards both the local and general anesthesia.
The third part of the course deals with the complications of revival and resuscitation procedures.

Teaching methods
During the lectures will discuss the general problems associated with the enforcement of an anesthetic protocol.
The course will be accompanied by practical exercises with animals. The exercises will be individual and practices in order to provide the opportunity for each student to be able to measure in the design of stand-alone solutions to the real problems that will be made.
These activities will be planned in such a way that within each exercise, the student can achieve practically the solutions of the problems outlined during theoretical lessons.
Assessment methods and criteria
The assessment of the achievement of the objectives of the course consists of a written and oral exam. Through questions about the contents of the course will be determined whether the student has achieved the goal of knowledge and understanding of the content. Through questions regarding prevention strategies and preparation of a care plan will be determined whether the student has achieved the aim of applying the acquired knowledge.
