Learning objectives

The course means to offer an introduction to a central theme of German literature of the 18th and 19th centuries. The students are asked to identify the general problems of the Bildungsroman by studying the individual works, verifying the specificity of the phenomenon according to its literary context. The students participate actively in this learning process by preparing brief reports on given arguments to be presented during the course. <br />

Course unit content

The course addresses one of the fundamental genres of German literature of the 18th and 19th centuries, the Bildungsroman. By studying a few of the main works of this genre, the main problems will be studied in depth, their evolution over time and the changes that were brought according to the orientation of the individual authors of classicism and romanticism. <br />

The course lessons and the final exam will be in the German language. <br />
