Integrated course unit module: CLASSICAL LANGUAGES AND LITERATURE (INTEGRATED)

Learning objectives

The student will acquire well-round knowledge regarding the Greek language and literature; he/she will develop the skill required to read critical editions of Greek texts; the student will become acquainted with bibliographical and linguistic sources.

Prerequisites

good knowledge of Greek language and Greek literature is recommended prerequisite for the course; students who do not have any basic knowledge of Greek language will be given the possibility to attend specific “Greek zero” (elementary) courses.

A) linguistic, stylistic, philological and literary analysis. B) 1) Archilochus, Tyrtaeus, Mimnermus, Solon, Xenophanes; 2) additional critical essay assigned during the course.

Teaching methods

The teaching method in use is appropriate to the specific needs of the subject which requires the communication of the main course content through classes; discussion with the student about textual problems; seminars. The final examination will include an oral exam to ascertain familiarity with course material.
