Course unit content

The course is divided into two parts. In the first, we propose to present the basic instruments for analyzing statistical data relative to one or two phenomena and to provide an introduction to the study of the historical economical steps. The fundamental aim is to allow the student to acquire familiarity with the quantitative analysis of corporate and economic data, rendering him/her capable of carrying out autonomous elaborations and correctly interpreting the results of those elaborations. In the second part, we propose to present the basic tools for understanding the procedure of sampling and of inferences.
During the course attention will be focused on a whole of reduced techniques but of large use in practice. The fundamental logic and the cognitive purpose of each technique will be illustrated, while on a second level the technical details and the mathematical derivations will be questioned.
