Course unit content

The course (6 credits) is divided into two parts as follows:

Part 1: analyzes technological, socio-economic and organizational models of digital publishing and e-learning.

Part 2: is dedicated to social reading and e-learning and the alternative models of sharing, creation and dissemination of knowledge.

Teaching methods

The course will be supplemented by seminars and tutorials and tasks to be carried out by the Study Groups.

Tutorials
The students follow a Virtual Lab and will be able to create the final presentation as a way to explore and reflect on the possibilities of digital publishing and e-learning. The virtual laboratory is located at:

Seminars
There will be seminars on social reading, the digital library, computational linguistics and self publishing that are described in the reference week of the course. Participation in the seminars is recommended.

Study Group
During the course, you will have the opportunity to become familiar with the use of discussion forums, blogs, wikis and other social media for learning and to explore some of the theories and philosophies of learning behind their use.

Students will use a blog (http://www.blogger.com) built by the Study Groups to record and reflect on their studies.

The second part of the course will involve the creation of a digital resource (e-book, video, concept map) on one of the issues encountered during the course.

Assessment methods and criteria

The exam is written and oral. The written examination is an online questionnaire on the topics of the course.
