Learning objectives

The purpose is to present a review of the main fluid machines which found applications in the food industries.

Boiler. Impeller pumps. Leak-free pumps. Positive displacement pumps. Positive displacement compressors. Jet pumps. Refrigeretion plants.

Full programme

Boiler: typology, efficiency.
Impeller pumps: characteristic curve; cavitation; NPSH.
Leak-free pumps. Positive displacement pumps. Positive displacement compressors.
Jet pumps: theory of operation; performance.
Refrigeretion plants; cooling agents; vapour compression refrigeration plants; Absorption refrigeration plants.
