Learning objectives
Knowledge and understanding.
Students need learn the fundaments of the structure and pathologies of the oral cavity, of the regenerative technics for tissue engineering of oral cavity.
Applying knowledge and understanding
Students must use known techniques for development of experimental a protocol. They will also be able to participate and conduct team research in tissue regeneration applied to oral tissues.
Making judgments
Ability to reason about biomechanics, biomaterials in regenerative medicine study appeared on an article of an international journal and/or PhD-thesis
Communications skills
Ability to understand and be understood in technical situations
Learning skills
Ability to summarize a technical procedure and to write a scientific progress report
At the end of the class, sudents will know and understand the basics of
current approaches for oral tissue regeneration.
Prerequisites
Human Anatomy and Histology
Course unit content
The first lesson covers the anatomical and histological component of the oral cavity.
Subsequent lessons treat the Biomaterials and implant prosthetics.
The last lessons are focused on the osteogenic molecules and on the regeneration/osteointegration.
The class will focus on tissue defects in the oral cavity, clinical challenges posed by such defects, current approaches for defect regeneration and innovative techniques for tissue engineering
