Integrated course unit module: PATHOLOGY AND CLINIC OF COMMUNICATION

Learning objectives

The speech therapy course in neuropsychological disorders in older adults and the elderly is part of the Integrated Course of Pathology and Clinical Communication and aims to enable the student to know and understand the clinical picture of neuropsychological disorders, diagnostic and evaluative and guidelines of the rehabilitation. The course also aims to enable students to acquire the ability to use the knowledge and understanding gained in order to move in a competent manner and within a team of self-assessment and taking charge. It also aims to illustrate the possibilities of rehabilitation in order to identify targets for intervention and plan an individualized rehabilitation plan.

The first part of the lectures covers an introduction to cognitive disorders most frequently after a severe brain injury. Subsequently we define the concept of neuropsychological assessment, explaining how it conducts a medical history, what are the main formal tests and questionnaires / scales valence behavioral / ecological. Particular attention is placed on the characteristics of the relationship between professional and pcs. and techniques of behavioral observation during both the assessment and during treatment.
The second part of the lessons concerns the planning and implementation of individualized treatment plan prepared in accordance with the methodology GAS

Teaching methods

Lessons include the presentation in video projection content with the help of movies and to support the theoretical content of the course. The last minutes of class are reserved to requests for clarification from the students. It requires the presentation of cases in vivo treatment with demonstrations and discussion

Assessment methods and criteria

The assessment of learning and knowledge gained takes place during the appeals provided for by the teaching calendar, by oral question, the presence of the Committee on the Teaching of Integrated Course of Semiotics Special
The student must be able to possess the knowledge provided by the learning objectives of the course.
