Assessment methods and criteria

Evaluation of knowledge and skills is by final written and oral language exams.
The final test is divided into:
- Written examination
. grammar test on the grammar topics treated during the year. This test is a prerequisite to have access to the oral examination.
- Oral examination
. the student must be able to understand texts, authors and formal issues related to the linguistic phenomena examined in the course. Questions in the exam aim at verifying knowledge of the topics covered as well as the ability to apply this knowledge.
A part of the examination takes place in Spanish in order to verify oral competence corresponding to level B2. For the oral, the failure threshold is determined by lack of knowledge of the contents, incorrect use of specific language and the inability to speak Spanish at level B2+. A pass (18-23/30) is determined by a partial knowledge of the contents and a minimum capacity of application and/or reworking of these contents, and the demonstration of a linguistic level presenting some characteristic features of level B2. An evaluation between 24-27/30 and 26-27/30 can be reached thanks to an acceptable knowledge of content, demonstrating the capacity to apply such knowledge, and an appropriate use of language. The higher threshold (from 28/30 to 30/30 e lode) is obtained when the student proves to be in possession of a good or excellent level of knowledge of the content covered in the course, autonomous application of this knowledge, and an original and creative approach to the subject.
