Learning objectives
The workshop aims to promote theoretical knowledge relating to key rights and responsibilities of researchers and research participants, and to show how this knowledge can be applied in the real professional. Finally, it is proposed to foster students' independence of judgment and autonomy with respect to the issues addressed in the preparation and conduct of a research concerning the respect of ethical issues.
Prerequisites
Based knowledge of the methodology of the research.
Course unit content
The first lesson will consider research participants' rights, particularly informed consent, ensuring the privacy and anonymity, data protection, the protection of physical and mental health of the participants, the guarantee of equal opportunities for all participants of the research, the obligation to return the data. It will be also addressed the issue of plagiarism in research.
In the second lesson we will investigate some protocols useful for the submission of applications to ethics committees and educational contexts.
Full programme
The laboratory provides a few hours of presentation of the most important principles of research ethics: the protection of subjects and discipline, informed consent, plagiarism, publication of the results.
In the second part of the workshop will be analyzed some research papers in order to comment on them from the point of view of ethics.

Teaching methods
A lecture followed by in-depth individual or group will be proposed in order to facilitate the acquisition of knowledge of the ethics of research. Group work and practical exercises will be proposed to facilitate the acquisition of the ability to apply the knowledge to reality, their independence of judgment and autonomy in practice.
Assessment methods and criteria
The examination provides a guided commentary written on the ethical aspects of research presented in a scientific paper, which can be show the knowledge of the ethics, independence of judgment and knowledge of the practices followed. To the work will be assigned a rating between adequate and excellent.
