Integrated course unit module: POPULATION BIOLOGY

Learning objectives

To review the essential concepts in Ecology and Genetics required for the module, and to reach an understanding of why “Nothing in biology makes sense except in the light of evolution” (T. Dobzanski).

Prerequisites

Three-year degree.

Course unit content

First-term Evolutionary Biology module: understanding the multiplicity of evolutionary forces. Knowledge of the conditions in which these different forces give rise to the evolutionary process. Capacity to draw inferences from the relative importance of different evolutionary forces, starting from information about the structure of the populations studied.
