Course unit content

The course is divided into two modules, A and B. The first presents the foremost pedagogic theories from the early and, especially, the late twentieth century, looking particularly to highlight, through heated debate, those particularly important theories. By these means the course will analyze some structural categories of general pedagogy, such as the concept of educational relationship, pedagogical teleology, of person and the link between theory/practice so as to come to an, albeit partial, definition of pedagogy. Part B will instead systematically explore the theme of educational needs expressed in social communities, especially those linked to cultural changes and to modern policentric conformity of the formative system. In particular, it will refer to the problems and operational possibilities of spatial services (youth centers, play areas, sporting groups, associations, museums) with particular reference to the theme of adolescence and socio-cultural animation.
