Learning objectives
Students should acquire the knowledge of basic concepts and methods of scientific psychology, the knowledge of the functional mechanisms of main psychological processes underlying human behaviour and their neural bases.
Moreover students should acquire the capacity to apply the knowledge in specific sports contexts. They should acquire the capacity of deepening and updating the arguments.

Course unit content
The body-brain relationship. Scientific methods to study cognition and behavior. From sensation to perception. Space and movement perception. Selective and spatial attention. Learning and memory. Emotion and motivation.
Cortical organization of motor activity. Role of movement in perception and cognition. Motor cognition and its disorders. Relationship between motor system, autonomic nervous system, emotions and their regulation. The identification and regulation of motivation. Sport and play. Self-efficacy training and the relationship with sports performance. The decision making. How to train it. Interpersonal and group dynamics.

Teaching methods
Lectures will be held on-site in compliance with safety standards, provided that further instructions on the ongoing health emergency are not implemented. Supporting material will be available on the specific, student-reserved platform (Elly) and will include slide presentations, audio-video aids or video-recording of the lectures.
Assessment methods and criteria
The final assessment involves a written exam through multiple choice questions. In medical emergency conditions (COVID-19), this exam will take place as a quiz on the Elly platform.
