Learning of Basic concepts on the elaboration of some sensory systems
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of neuron physiology and anatomy of the nervous system
Course unit content
Psychophysics of perception. Somatosensory system. Auditory system. Physiology of phonation. Visual system.
Full programme
Anatomy of the spinal cord. Receptors and afferent fibres. Somatosensory pathways. Thalamus and cerebral cortex (areas SI and SII). Anatomy of the inner ear. Acoustic receptors and transduction. Central acoustic pathways. Primary auditory cortex. Retina, visual pathways and Primary visual cortex. Control of phonation.
