Integrated course unit module: INTERNSHIP I YEAR

Learning objectives

The student must be able to:1) fulfill the responsibilities related to one's role:respect the obligations of the internshipdon't be selective in your activitiescarry out the assigned workinquire or ask for help before starting unfamiliar activities2) recognize the structure in which it is located and the different professional figures:identify the operational unit and the reference departmentidentify the structural characteristics of the operating unitrecognize the different professional figures and their roles3) operate respecting rights and roles:respect the rights of individuals and their familiesrespect the role of other professionals and collaborate with them give information promptly and politelyuse clear and appropriate language for different situationsrespect privacy4) read, understand, collect and report data based on the nursing processread and understand the information given in the delivery or in the nursing cardcollect and record the data on the medical record, in the space reserved for nursescollect and record the objective and subjective data of the person, with respect to the various life activitiesidentify nursing diagnosesidentify possible assistance interventions, with respect to the different diagnoses inf.5) apply appropriate behaviors for the prevention of hospital infectionsperform social and / or antiseptic and / or alcoholic hand washing, as neededapply the concepts of cleaning, antisepsis, disinfection and sterilizationuse the different types of PPE ( personal protective equipment)dressing a woundidentify the types of patients most exposed to infections6) implement welfare interventions consistent with the person's abilities:inquire about the person's pathology even if not addressed theoreticallyimplement the interventions in due timereplace or assist the person in carrying out life activitiesimplement the interventions in a conscious way (know the reasons for the interventions and the possible consequences)prepare, use and store the material ready for useuse the premises and materials suitable for the various situations7) satisfy the needs of hygiene and clothing of the person:unoccupied bed makingbusy bed makingtotal hygienepartial hygienenail cut8) satisfy the person's need for mobilization:help the person: to assume the sitting position in the bed, to assume the position in an armchair when walking in bed mobilizationuse the necessary aids9) satisfy the need for breathing and temperature controldetect: respiratory rate, type of breath, pulse characteristics, heart rate, blood pressure, axillary and rectal temperature, perform the E.C.G.10) satisfy the need for foodrecognize the main dietshelp the person in preparing and taking the meal11) satisfy the need for urinary and fecal eliminationcollect and measure diuresisrecognize the main changes in diuresis, urine, urinationrecognize changes in fecal functionapply the aids favoring elimination12) carry out the assessment to the person taken in chargesystematically detect and classify objective and subjective dataformulate actual and potential nursing diagnoses

Prerequisites

the student must have successfully passed the theoretical / practical verifications of the 1st year clinical laboratory and the laboratory of basic activities

The internship activities are aimed at making the student acquire the specific skills required by the professional profile.

Teaching methods

Tutoring in a 1: 1 ratio (a student supported by a clinical tutor), experiences of peer to peer tutoring.

Assessment methods and criteria

The student will have to present a care plan regarding a clinical case observed during the internship (didactic nursing record). The objectives of the 1 year course refer to the nursing assessment and data collection phase and the identification of two nursing diagnoses.

Other information

Compulsory attendance for a total of 300 hours to be carried out in affiliated facilities. the objectives are linked to basic nursing care and the assessment of the assisted person.
