Learning objectives

Provide adequate knowledge for the patient's nursing management, with particular reference to the areas of the individual modules of the integrated course.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology and general pathology.

Course unit content

The course aims to provide the necessary knowledge to be integrated into perioperative nursing practice (e.g., assessment of the patient's clinical status through knowledge of key laboratory tests, monitoring data, instrumentation, knowledge and appropriateness of any drug therapy and/or surgical procedure to be applied).

The integrated course is developed in the following modules, to which reference is made for the specific extended program:
- GENERAL AND SPECIAL PHARMACOLOGY (3 credits)
- NURSING IN THE OPERATING ROOM AND PERIOPERATIVE CARE (2 credits)
- NURSING IN GENERAL AND SPECIALIZED SURGERY (3 credits)
- CLINICAL PATHOLOGY (1 credit)

Teaching methods

Lectures will be held on-site in compliance with safety standards. Supporting material will be available on the specific, student-reserved platform (Elly) and will include slide presentations, audio-video aids or video-recording of the lectures.

Assessment methods and criteria

Oral exam. Directions on the specific methods of testing will be given at the beginning of the course.
