Learning objectives

At the end of the course the student will have acquired
- knowledge relating to the design of the experimentation (even virtual) on Energy Systems and the interpretation of the obtained results;
- skills concerning the numerical and experimental characterization of Energy Systems operations;
- tools for the implementation, execution and analysis of models for the simulation of Energy Systems and for the interpretation of simulation results.

Prerequisites

A basic knowledge of fundamentals of Mathematics, Physics Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics and Energy Systems is required.

Course unit content

The course is a complement to the theoretical contents presented in the Energy Systems course, which is held in parallel.
During the course, energy conversion systems (turbogas, steam plants and internal combustion engines) and their components will be analyzed with IT tools in order to determine their performance as the operating conditions vary.
The main problems related to the experimental characterization of energy systems and fluid machines will also be analysed in this framework.

Teaching methods

Frontal lessons.
Classroom exercises (students are invited to participate with a computer).

Assessment methods and criteria

The exam is oral and consists of the discussion of the report outlining the exercises proposed in the classroom and carried out independently by the individual student.
