Integrated course unit module: NEUROLINGUISTICS I

Learning objectives

1) Gaining knowledge and understanding of the psychopathology of the psychiatric disorders addressed during classes
2) Capacity to apply such understanding: e.g., Developing the ability to early recognize and appropriately refer to specialist psychiatric counselling or treatment patients endorsing psychopathology.

Course unit content

Classes will deal with the clinical manifestations and treatment approaches of major psychiatric disorders: Mood Disorders (Depressive and Bipolar Disorders); Anxiety Disorders (Phobias, Panic Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder); Schizophrenia; eating Disorders

Power point slides showed during classes will be provided to all students through the Elly platform.

Teaching methods

Lectures will be held on-site in compliance with safety standards, provided that further instructions on a potential novel health emergency are not implemented. Supporting material will be available on the specific, student-reserved platform (Elly)

Assessment methods and criteria

Multiple-choice written test, with 30 questions. Students will need to provide at least 18 correct answers to pass the examination. The final mark will be computed according to the proportion of the correct answers to the remaining questions. No penalties will be applied in case of incorrect answers. The test will last 20 minutes. In case of a novel health emergency, the test will be held on the Team and Elly platforms.
