Learning objectives

The Course The professional profile of the speech therapist is part of the Integrated Course II The course aims to allow the student to know and understand the main professional acts and the code of ethics of the speech therapist and to acquire the basic notions relating to speech therapy evaluation. The course aims to make the student able to apply the knowledge and understanding skills acquired to orient himself during the first stages of the practical internship.

Course unit content

The first lessons concern the description of the general and specific professional skills and professional acts of the speech therapist also through the analysis of the code of ethics. The second part of the course is aimed at providing the student with the basic notions to identify all the pathologies of logopedic relevance and the language levels that are evaluated in the speech therapy balance (Fluency, Phonetics, Phonology, Lexicon, Morphology, Syntax, Pragmatics, Semantics, Text and Speech, Voice, Written Language) and later deepens the neuropsychological basis of linguistic competence. Finally, the last part of the course introduces the student to the speech therapy assessment through the presentation of the main tests.

Teaching methods

The lectures provide for the presentation in video projection of the course contents with the aid of videos of assessment sessions and the viewing and analysis of speech therapy assessment tests. The last minutes of the lesson are reserved for clarification questions from students.

Assessment methods and criteria

Verification of learning and knowledge acquired requires an intermediate written exam. By means of written questions regarding the course contents, it will be verified whether the student has achieved the objectives of knowledge and understanding of the course contents. Lo must be able to demonstrate knowledge of the code of ethics and guidelines for speech therapy assessment. The final assessment of learning and acquired knowledge takes place during the exam sessions provided for in the teaching calendar, by oral questioning, in the presence of the commission of the teachers of the Integrated Course. The student must be able to demonstrate that he / she possesses the knowledge required by the educational objectives of the Course.

Other information

Lectures will be held on-site in compliance with safety standards, provided that further instructions on the ongoing health emergency are not implemented. Supporting material will be available on the specific, student-reserved platform (Elly) and will include slide presentations, audio-video aids or video-recording of the lectures.
