Integrated course unit module: LIFESTYLES, RISK FACTORS AND WELLNESS TECHNIQUES

Learning objectives

To know the main risk factors related to lifestyles, their identification and prevention interventions, to be applied in the specific field of study.

None.

Concepts of publich health and preventive medicine.
Concepts of risk factor and lifestyle.
Primary, secondary, tertiary, quaternary prevention.
Epidemiological studies for the identification of risk factors.
Determinants of Health.
Health education and health promotion.

Epidemiological studies for the identification of risk factors and evaluation of preventive interventions:
- source of epidmeiological data; -descriptive epidemiological measures;
- measures of association (relative risk, attributable risk, odds ratio);
- epidemiological study design;
- bias in epidemiologal studies;
- screening and its appllication in Public Health.
Lifestyles as determinants of health.
Health education, health education and health promotion (Ottawa Charter).

Teaching methods

Lectures will be held on-site in compliance with safety standards, provided that further instructions on the ongoing health emergency are not implemented. Supporting material will be available on the specific, student-reserved platform (Elly) and will include slide presentations, audio-video aids or video-recording of the lectures.

Assessment methods and criteria

Written exam in which the knowledge, skills and abilities acquired during the course will be evaluated. The test consists of 31 multiple choice questions. There is no penalty for incorrect answers.
In case of the persistence of the health emergency, the exams will be conducted remotely(by Teams and Elly).
