The lessons cover topics such as: Organ phoniatric: Pathophysiology, Articulatory Organ: pathophysiology, Organic voice disorders,
Elements of General Pathology: definition of benign and malignant tumors, theories of tumorigenesis, risk factors, cognitive disorders most frequently after a severe brain injury, the concept of neuropsychological assessment, the pathophysiology of swallowing adult suffering from brain injury, l 'etiology of severe brain injury and major consequences of hemispheric lesions.

Illustration of the course. Introduction to Internal Medicine, general principles.
Cardiovascular risk factors, injury and clinical manifestations of atherosclerosis and risk maps for the calculation of individual cardiovascular risk.
Clinical signs and instrumental diagnostics and therapy of major metabolic disorders, with particular reference to obesity and diabetes mellitus.
Clinical signs and instrumental diagnostics and treatment of endocrine disorders with particular reference to thyroid disease.
Clinical signs and instrumental diagnostics and therapy of major cardiovascular diseases, with special reference to arterial hypertension, ischemic heart disease, heart failure and atrial fibrillation.
Basic elements of anatomy and physiology of the kidney and the main renal diseases, with particular regard to the consideration urine, urinary tract infections and acute and chronic renal failure.
Basic elements of anatomy and physiology of the lung and the main respiratory diseases, with particular regard to bronchial asthma.
Pathophysiology of diseases of the digestive system. Clinical signs and instrumental diagnostics and therapy with special reference to the Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, peptic ulcer disease: role of Helicobacter pylori, Malabsorption, Celiac Disease. Cholelithiasis. Liver Cirrhosis. Diarrhea and Constipation.
Pathophysiology of the major diseases of the hematopoietic system with particular reference to anemia.
Fever: differential diagnosis




- Neurogenic Dysphagia:

Symptoms and complications. The neurological patient bearer of the tracheostomy tube. Features of the cannulae, management. Assessment of the level of consciousness in neurological patients (LCF). Evaluation of swallowing (first and second tier). Instrumental exams. Rehabilitation of dysphagia (adaptive measures, maneuvers, posture)

- Aphasia:

Aphasia syndromes (characteristics, etiology). Formal examination of language (AAT). Clinical examination. The communication with the aphasic subject.

Bucco-facial apraxia and apraxia articulatory:

Evaluation.

Dysarthria:

Rating (test Robertson)





The Cognitive disorders in acquired brain injury in adulthood:

- Deficits in basic functions: disorders of attention and memory

- Deficits in communication skills verbal and pragmatic

Teaching methods


Class lessons: the program themes will be discussed with the aid of slides. The proposed topics will be the subject of collective discussion and study on the basis of ideas and any questions raised during the lessons themselves.

Assessment methods and criteria


The achievement of the goals of the course is verified by an oral exam.
Answering questions about the contents of the course, the student will demonstrate whether he/she has achieved the goals of knowledge and understanding of the contents and the ability to apply the acquired knowledge.
