Learning objectives

The course aims to enable the student to understand and apply the basic concepts and lines of reasoning of bioinorganic chemistry. First goal of the course is to explain the role of the metal complexes in medicinal contexts, including diagnosis and therapy. In this way, the student could advance in the knowledge of biochemistry and of medicinal chemistry.
LEARNING OUTCOMES. The students are invited to develop their communication skills, their ability to learn and make connections between the various arguments. At the end of the course, the student will demonstrate her/his knowledge about: ligands, coordination compounds, main applications of metal complexes in medicinal chemistry.

Prerequisites

Good knowledge of general and inorganic chemistry

The course is an introduction to bioinorganic chemistry and to the role of metal complexes in pharmacy

The course will be conducted through lectures accompanied by the projection of slides, previously provided to the student

Assessment methods and criteria

Written test: one hours, three questions, 10 points per question.
Minimum 60% score to pass.
