Learning objectives

To provide theoretical and practical basis for the integrated management of odontostomatological diseases related to medical, surgical and dental therapy

Prerequisites

knowledge of anatomy, phisology, general pathology, histopathology, internal medicine, oral medicine, dlinical dentistry

Course unit content

Integrated medical-surgical and dental treatment of patients with mouth and jaw bones diseases and management of the oncological patient

- Cancer epidemiology in the oro maxillofacial region
- Patient at risk for oro-pharyngeal cancer: identification of systemic aspects and risk factors
- Protocols for early screening, prevention and early diagnosis of oro-pharyngeal squamous carcinoma
- Preclinical lesions of the oral cavity: clinical aspects and diagnostic protocol
- oro-pharyngeal cancer: clinical aspects and diagnostic protocol
- Cancerization of the oral lichen planus and lichenoid dysplasia
- Biopsy: general criteria and applications in oral diagnostics

Teaching methods

The course will be held through lectures to Students either in the classroom (“in presenza”) or in synchronous-streaming (“in telepresenza”) on the Teams platform. Therefore, the opportunity of Student/Teacher interaction will be preserved both face to face and remotely, by the simultaneous use of the Teams platform.
