Learning objectives
The course offers the knowledge and understanding of the assessment path and the speech therapy treatment in the pre-verbal and acquired onset hearing, the knowledge of prosthetic aids (prosthetics, cochlear implant, FM systems); The course also aims to provide the specific skills required in the professional profile both in evaluation and in the therapy in hearing disability.

The course deepens the knowledge of assessment tools and therapeutic approaches. The second part concerns the selection and treatment and monitoring of results in the cochlear implant procedure in pediatric , teen-agers and adults deef

The speech-language approach in the treatment of children with hearing impairments:
• evaluation protocols
• treatment: guidelines
• therapeutic approaches

Logopedic rehabilitation of the adult patient with acquired hearing loss:
• selection of the adult patient in the cochlear implant procedure
• the logopedic rehabilitation of the adult patient with a cochlear implant
Selection of the adolescent and adult patient with pre-verbal hearing loss:
• communicative-linguistic and perceptive indicators
• treatment and follow-up

Logopedic selection in pediatric age:
1. evaluation of the hypoacusic child in the pre-verbal language stage
2. evaluation of the hypoacusic child in a transitional linguistic stage
3. evaluation of the hypoacusic child in a functional linguistic stage
Written test in itinere. Oral exam with multiple teachers, in order to ascertain the quality and level of knowledge and understanding of the course contents and the ability to apply the acquired knowledge to professional practice. The judgment will also evaluate the quality of participation in the lectures of the student.

Teaching methods
The lectures, supplemented by practical exercises and video viewing on clinical cases in evaluation and treatment, are intended to provide an adequate theoretical knowledge and awareness of acting in the professional approach. The student must be able to achieve adequate skills in planning a more appropriate specific assessment in the diagnostic pathway in the developmental age and in the selection path to the cochlear implant in pre-verbal and post-verbal hearing loss.
The student must also acquire a specific language that makes him capable of comparison with other professionals, the ability to administer perceptual-verbal evaluation tests in hands-free mode, to calculate the communicative profile, to transcribe a Video-Analysis and a linguistic production, to know scales international evaluation reports. At the end of the course and traineeship, the student, on the basis of knowledge and understanding, will acquire descriptive and observational skills of a therapeutic act in the developmental age, plan a treatment session for specific objectives, acquire the speech tracking method.
Assessment methods and criteria
Written test Oral exam with multiple teachers, in order to ascertain the quality and level of knowledge and understanding of the course contents and the ability to apply the acquired knowledge to professional practice.
