Learning objectives
Students can understand the main points of clear standard input on topics regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. Can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken. Can produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest. Can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes & ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

Course unit content
This course aims to bring students to B1 level (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages of the Council of Europe) in the skills of reading and writing an in Use of English.
This course is aimed at students who already have an elementary knowledge of English and who understand simple communication.
The course includes activities for the consolidation and development of comprehension of written and spoken English.

Assessment methods and criteria
The test consists of 70 questions with multiple choice answers.
In order to pass the test, students must correctly answer at least 42 questions out of 70 (60%).
The final score is the total number of correct answers. No marks are deducted for incorrect or missing answers.
The use of dictionaries and books is not permitted.
The test can be paper-based or computer-based, on the basis of logistic requirements as decided by the examining board.
