Lecture course:The art of seduction in ancient Rome

Full programme

After a few details about the literary genre, we will read some extracts from Ars Amatoria by Ovid. We will point out the various seduction techniques as suggested by Ovid, and compare them with previous and following writers’ones, in particular with Catullus and the elegiac poets.
