Course unit content

The third-year Internship of the Degree Course in Sciences of Architecture is conceived as a closing moment and an introduction to the professional world and represents an attempt to anticipate within the university at least a general introduction to the ensuing profession of architect. The formula offered by the Degree Course is split into 180 hours to be worked at an external Host (public or private, in most cases a freelance Architect or Engineer) under the supervision of a Tutor, who will have a certain guaranteed amount of professional experience, able to recapitulate through direct experience the main aspects and professional skills of the figure of the architect, according to a wide-ranging overall preliminary picture of all the elements that characterize the profession.

Bibliography

In addition to the classic reference texts (the Architect’s Manual and similar), the student acquires his or her first knowledge of the reference norms for the various aspects of the profession (national and regional laws, municipal regulations and documents, reference regulations for the profession, etc.).

Teaching methods

The Internship takes place at the Host’s in a professional situation. As a result, the student effects his or her hours in an actual working context, entering into direct contact with all the various events, situations and problems that characterize the profession, also by following set working hours.

Assessment methods and criteria

As well as a final declaration from the Host’s Tutor that guarantees the total hours requested, the student is expected to compile a final report on the experience gained, dealing with and documenting all the points demanded by the Internship.
