Meeting the challenges posed by climate change and energy efficiency requires the development of a new paradigm for industrial activities, focused on reduction, reuse, recycling and recovery. Materials Science is at the heart of this change, designing innovative, sustainable and high-performance materials.
The strongly interdisciplinary nature of the three-year degree course in Materials Science is supported by the close collaboration between the Department of Chemical, Life and Environmental Sustainability Sciences, twice awarded by MIUR as 'Department of Excellence' in 2018-2022 and 2023-2027, and the Department of Mathematical, Physical and Computer Sciences.
The course is set in an area that hosts large industrial companies with a need for advanced research and the development of innovative materials, as well as many small and medium-sized enterprises in search of specialist skills for technological development and the application of new materials to production plants.
Students will benefit from the extensive network of contacts and collaborations with numerous national and international companies and research institutes.

The knowledge and skills acquired will be immediately transferable to the job market, with the possibility of being involved in industrial research projects within local companies already during your internship.
In addition, from the 2024-25 academic year, a Master's degree course in Materials Science running alongside the Master's degree course in Physics (Physics of Matter and Materials) or Chemistry (Chemistry of Materials) will be activated.
Every degree course has one or more professors who can provide information and help future students clarifying their doubts about attending the course.
