Learning objectives
The student should (1) know the laboratory analyses of most wide exploitation in Clinical Pathology, (2) understand their role in diagnostic procedures, follow up and therapy monitoring, (3) properly evaluate their cost/benefit ratio and (4) apply this information to relevant clinical examples.
Prerequisites
Mandatory The preparatory examinations which are mandatory for this exam are defined by the CdS. Relevant bases of Biochemistry, Physiology, Immunology and General Pathology should be adequately recalled.
Course unit content
- The laboratory in hematology. Laboratory diagnosis of anemias.
- Laboratory evaluation of hemostasis. Bleeding disorders, thrombofilia, monitoring of anticoagulant therapy.
- Tumor markers.
- Systemic parameters of inflammation and tissue damage.
