Learning objectives
The aim of the course and subsequent exam is for students to:
a) have acquired specific medical terminology
b) be familiar with the content of the NHS hand-outs and study aids provided
c) to have a good command of the English language
d) to be able to explain to a patient their condition, symptoms, give advice, treatment options and prognosis.
Prerequisites
English I and II passed.
Course unit content
This year’s programme is based on a list of topics taken from the NHS website where medical conditions and symptoms are explained to the general public using texts and videos. The videos, where GPs and specialists explain conditions, their symptoms and treatment options, are an excellent way of improving listening skills.

The interactive educational material will be given by the teacher during the lessons.
Teaching methods
The interactive lessons will be in English with the support of a mother-language teacher. See the Contents section for further details
Assessment methods and criteria
For the final exam, students are required to answer two questions which will be based on the hand-outs and study material provided. For the final vote, english 3 has a weight equal to its number of credits in the three years of abilità linguistiche ed informatiche (6/14) and it is in 30/30.
