Integrated course unit module: HEMATOLOGICAL, NEOPLASTIC AND INFECTIOUS DISEASES

Learning objectives

Allow the student to know and understand the underlying mechanisms of neoplastic transformation and major systemic effects of tumors such as cancer cachexia, and paraneoplastic syndromes. Emphasis will be given to molecular oncology in order to allow the student to apply the knowledge gained to the understanding of the mechanism of action of new targeted agents.

Molecular basis of cancer. Tumor-host interaction. Molecular diagnostics of cancer. New targeted therapies.

Teaching methods

Lectures will be held on-site. Supporting material will be available on the specific,
student-reserved platform (Elly).
The topics in the program will be presented and discussed through
lectures trying to involve the student so that it can be an active part of
the lesson.
The teacher is available for further explanations in office or by distance
via Teams after e-mail appointment, or via chat on Elly platform.

Assessment methods and criteria

The assessment of the achievement of the objectives of the course provides an oral examination. Through questions regarding the course content will be determined whether the student has achieved the goal of knowledge and understanding of the content and if he has reached the goal of applying the acquired knowledge.
