Learning objectives
The student should acquire sufficient information to judge his professional activity from a legal and ethic point of view with particular reference to criminal, civil and social aspects.At the end of the course the student should be able to discriminate among various kinds of legal sources, judge the patient's clinical status on the basis of the law, regulate his/her professional conduct regarding the patients and public and private institutions (health related)in the actual juridical context.

Bioethics, Medical Ethics and Law: principles and general aspects. Health professionals in National Health Service: the Orthoptist. General aspects of Criminal Law: the Crime, the legal position of health professional, health related crimes. When the health professional is obliged to refer to justice organization. Medical files and certification. General aspects of Civil Law and legal capacity. Privacy and respect for personal informations. Informed consent. General aspects of professional liability. National Health Service: legal evolution and current organization. Social Security System: National Insurance and Welfare System with particular reference to reduced visual acuity and blindness.
