The course aims at facilitating the comprehension of the neuroendocrine substrates of behavior.
Following a brief introduction to the basics of neuroanatomy, to the cells of the nervous system and the main neurotransmitters and receptors, more detailed attention is devoted to the neural/neuroendocrine bases of learning and memory, addiction, sleep, emotions and stress. Moreover, students are asked to work in groups in the handling and presentation of experimental data, as well as in bibliographic search and scientific article presentation.
