Learning objectives

Students will acquire advanced language skills for the reading and interpretation of Latin authors

Prerequisites

Course requirement: 10 credits in the Latin language and litetature SDA

Course unit content

Course Title: Philosophical otium and social invidia: Readings from Lucretius, Cicero and Seneca.
The course will focus on selected readings that will show how choosing philosophical otium is related to public hostility in latin authors from late Republic to early Empire.
A section of the course will be dedicated to an in-depth examination of certain aspects of historical phonetics and morphology
