Learning objectives
The aim of this course is to further the students' knowledge of corpus analysis undertaken in the first year, and to further develop translation strategies by also using other technological instruments such as corpora and translation memory.<br />
Prerequisites
Students must have reached C1+ in language competence (Common European Framework of Reference).
Course unit content
<p>The course is a continuation of the previous year's lectures on language analysis using corpora. In particular, some time will be spent on translation practice using corpora, but also introducing other technologica means of support such as translation memory, with a view to familiariizing students with what technology has to offer them in the translating profession.</p>
<p>Students will be required to create their own specialised corpus that will serve in the translation process of various text types other than literary ones.</p>
<p>Students will be required to attend practical language classes to improve their grammar and lexical skills as well as a period of self-study in the multimedia lab.</p>
<p>Students are strongly advised to continue practising their translation skills in the 1st semester by collecting some proposed texts from the course techer durinig receiving hours.</p>

Teaching methods
Lessons consist of traditional lectues regarding translation theory and practical work in the multimedia laboratory using corpora.<br />
<br />
Students take a practical written test of translation and use of corpora, and an oral examination regarding the theoretical input of the course.<br />
