Prerequisites

Excellent knowledge of French.
Course unit content

Translation of varieties of French in the French-speaking world. The course aims to investigate varieties of French within the broader French-speaking world taken as a cultural and thus linguistic whole. In particular, the course will cover French-speaking areas outside Europe, the Caribbean Creole countries and the question of diglossia, the French spoken in Quebec and the case of Africa.
