Knowledge of basic concepts relative to epidemiology and the prevention of infectious and chronic degenerative diseases with particular emphasis on the epidemiology and prevention of deafness

<br />Definition of hygiene, Public Health: division and aims. <br />Concept of health. <br />Elements of epidemiological methodology. <br />Epidemiological measures, types of epidemiological study. <br />Epidemiology of deafness. <br />The Risk Factor Concept and the Concept of Cause in disease. <br />General Epidemiology of infectious diseases. - Host-parasite relationships, sources and reservoirs of infection, modes of transmission. Modes of emergence of infections in the population. <br />Types and levels of preventive intervention. - Notification, quarantine measures, diagnostic investigation of infectious diseases. Sterilisation, Disinfection and Disinfestation. Vaccine prophylaxis, types of vaccine, vaccine strategies and schedules. Passive immunoprophylaxis and chemoprophylaxis. <br />Screening test characteristics <br />Main prevention principles for non infectious diseases
