Learning objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the topic of animal experimentation. The more critical aspects of animal experimentation will be developed: animal behavioural needs and welfare, legislation and ethics. Due to the short duration of the course, the topics will be dealt more from a critical than from an analitical point of view

<br />Biology and animal care of laboratory animals<br />Behaviourasl needs, stress and welfare<br />Experimental design: standardization, organization and analysis of animal experimentation<br />Legislation, regulation and policy on the use of animal for scientific research, testing or education<br />Animal research ethics. <br />

Teaching methods
<br />Oral lessons will be integrated with a short visit to the animal facilites of the Department of Evolutiionary and Functional Biology (Animal Biology Section)<br />Oral exam will be integrated with a dissertation of a topic assigned to each student
