Learning objectives

To provide knowledge of the mechamisms underlying eukaryotic cellular function, particularly for what concerns membrane excitability and integration processes, that allow different cell types to perform and coordinate specific functions.

Prerequisites

Basic notions of mathematics, physics and cell biology

Course unit content

1 Membrane transport mechanisms. 2 Diffusion law. 3 Membrane potential and electrical signals. 4 Cellular communication. 5 Neurons and synapses. 6 Sensory system. 7 Molecular mechanisms of cellular contraction.
