Learning objectives
The students will acquire the general knowledge on the structural organization of the Immune System, on the lymphoid organs and cells, on the characteristics of innate and specific immunity and on the the activation of immune response against “non self”; Basics on immunopathology will also provided.

IMMUNOLOGY:
The Immune System:
- The immune cells
- Primary and secondary lymphoid organs
- Lymphocyte circulation
The types of immune response:
1)The innate immunity
2)The specific immunity:
- The antigen characteristics
- The cell mediated immunity:
a)the antigen processing and presentation;
b)the activation of Helper and cytotoxic T Lymphocytes;
c)the effector response.
-The humoral immunity:
a)the activation of B cell;
b)structure and functions of antibodies
BASICS OF IMMUNOPATHOLOGY
1)Types of hypersensitivity;
2)Tolerance and autoimmunità.
