Course unit content
The question of how teachers learn to teach is clearly basic to the teacher education. Only recently, instead, have researchers begun to sistematically frame and study this problem from inside. For the most part, attention in teacher education has traditionally been focused on what teachers need to know (general education, subiect matters preparation, pedagogical content...) and how they can be trained (laboratories, field stages...), rather than of what they actually know and how that knowledge is acquired. In other words, the perspective has been from ouside, external to the teachers who are learning and the process by which they construct his knowledge. The course focused on researches about teachers know and on topics which they think, and moreover how important is to capture the ecology and the contingencies of classroom life, and recognize the different knowledges necessary to make an expensive, labor-intensive, ethical enterprise like the teaching job.
