Course unit content

First and foremost, the course provides a panoramic view of traditional and current models for the interpretation of adolescence, with particular emphasis on psychodynamic and psychosocial perspectives. Attention will then be focused on the main processes of change affecting adolescents, from the physical-bodily changes to the cognitive, emotional and affective ones. The pathway of the construction of identity will be examined in the light of the modern adolescent's continual wavering between social-relationship needs and the need for autonomy and emancipation from the adult figure.
