Learning objectives

To provide students the basis to perform an A.I. and to complete a semen collection with an artificial vagina.

Course unit content

Semen Collection - techniques.
Macroscopic and microscopic evaluation of semen.
Techniques for the calculation of insemination doses.
Freezing semen
Equine Embryo Transfer
Multiple pregnancies.
Equine embryos - evaluation
Equine A.I.
Cervix palpation, evaluation by speculum.
Perineum evaluation of the mare, assessment for A.I., A.I. simulation in vivo and in vitro.
