Learning objectives

The course aims at giving a basic knowledge and a precise methodology, with regard on the subject and the principal models of the history of theater. In the second part the course aims at giving concrete explanations on a specific topic, that is on a period of the Westren theatrical tradition.

Course unit content

The first part of the course is an overview on the history of theatrical and performing art models, with some analysis of texts, scenes and theatrical conceptions. The second part, the monographic one, focuses on two Shakespeare's works, "Othello" and "Macbeth", in their connection with Giuseppe Verdi's libretti.
