Learning objectives

The course is designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to Italian private law. Special attention will be paid to the law of contract.

Prerequisites

Great emphasis will be placed in considering the most recent jurisprudential developments. <br />

Course unit content

<p>1. Nature of law: concept and classifications. Legal rule and legal system. Sources of private law. 2. Legal relations. 3. Legal subjects. Capacity to have rights and capacity to exercise rights. Natural person and corporate person. 4. Family relations. 5. Successions and donations. 6. Property, the so called "diritti reali", possession. 7. Law of obligations: sources of obligations. Classification of obligations. Performance and other forms of extinction of obligations. Law of contract. Basics of main contracts (contract of sale/purchase, lease contract and loan for use contract, the so called “contratto di mandato”, "contratto di appalto", settlements). Law of torts. 8. Protection of rights. 9. Prescription. 10. Registration.<br />
