Learning objectives
Basic knowledge of mechanisms of response to tissue damage (inflammation, hemostasis, repair) and of their alterations. Elementary knowledge of cell death mechanisms and neoplastic disease biology. Acquisition of terminological competences.

Course unit content
The topics covered during the lectures will be: 1. CELL PATHOLOGY: adaptation to cell damage; cell death; basic features of neoplastic disease. 2. INFLAMMATION: Inflammation dynamics. Types of inflammation and inflammatory lesions. Mediators of inflammation. Systemic effects of inflammation. Inflammation alterations. 3. HEMOSTASIS AND BLOOD VESSELS DISEASES: Basic hemostasis. Hemorrhagic diseases. Thrombosis, embolism, infarction. Atherosclerosis.
