Course unit content

Course title: The language of persuasion: theory and practice in the works of Cicero.

Although beginning with the distinction between the language of the orator and the language of the philosopher, the course aims to help students grasp the contribution of rhetoric to Cicero’s philosophical writings. It will analyse the interconnections between rhetoric and philosophy as it emerges in particular in the prefaces to the philosophical works.
