Learning objectives

<br />To impart an understanding of the basic nature of the modern museology, and of the several side of controversial questions of this discipline.<br />To give an information on the possibilities for illustrating various scientific concepts and on educational potential of museum<br />To provide a sufficient base on the potential learning of paleontology to decipher the nature, history and the patterns of past life and thus the earth’s history.

Course unit content

<br />History of Modern scientific museology.  Evolution, aim and typologies of the recent museums and parks: permanent exposition areas, collections, laboratories and warehouse. Explanatory techniques: dioramas and use of the graphic in the explanations. Organization of the paleontological museum: gathering, preparation, classification, conservation, restoration, learning with fossils and exposition. Museums, parks and territories: the geo-paleontological communication, lab of taxonomy, didactic activities.
