Learning objectives

The aim of the course is to present the most recent theories and their relative applications to the financial markets and credit. Considerable emphasis is given to concrete examples taken from European business contexts.<br />

Prerequisites

<br />Macroeconomics, Monetary economics (Institutions), Basic mathematics, Statistics.

Course unit content

<br />The course covers a number of special issues regarding financial markets<br />- Market equilibrium of a financial activity and efficiency.<br />- Central bank statements and market expectations.<br />- Short- and long-term rates in the Euro-zone and the USA.<br />- Return of corporate bonds.<br />- Irregularity and inefficiency in financial markets.<br />- Heterogeneous investors, equilibrium and dynamics of prices.<br />- Credit, bank rates and rationing.<br />- The property market and credit.
