Learning objectives

The course objective is to effect acquisition of general knowledge of the historical development of the theory of meaning and of historiographical methodologies to be applied in the analysis of the texts (particularly those of antiquity and medieval).

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites. It is however useful to have a rudimentary knowledge of the logic of propositions and of the calculus of first order logic.

Course unit content

Module A (5 university educational credits) <br />
Basic course - Outlines the history of logic from Aristotle to Leibniz. <br />
In tracing the outlines of the history of logic from Aristotle to Leibniz, particular attention will be paid to the history of the theories of deduction and of meaning. <br />
